The NAMB
Lending Integrity Seal of Approval:
One Perfect Reason to Join or Renew Your GAMB
Membership
Occasionally I hear from a mortgage professional who
questions the value of joining or renewing his or
her membership in GAMB. In a volunteer association,
it is often hard for our most active members to find
the time to write articles and email messages filled
with updates on everything that is happening because
they must tend to their businesses as well as their
volunteer work. Let me assure you, however, that
GAMB and the National Association of Mortgage
Brokers (NAMB) have a great deal of things going on
that support you and your business.
One
example of a membership benefit that can increase
your success in the mortgage industry is NAMB’s new
Lending Integrity Seal of Approval. This program has
the power to restore consumer confidence and set a
member apart from the few bad apples who plague the
industry and harm the reputations of mortgage
brokers and loan originators everywhere. The Lending
Integrity Seal, similar to the “Good Housekeeping
Seal,” is an emblem that can be used by members that
will help consumers identify mortgage brokers and
loan officers who meet the industry’s highest
standards for knowledge, professionalism, ethics and
integrity.
In
order to display the Lending Integrity Seal of
Approval, a mortgage broker or loan originator must
be a NAMB Professional or Loan Originator Member,
possess or work for a company that possesses a
current state-issued mortgage license, pass a
national criminal background check, complete
educational training (including ethics training),
adhere to the NAMB Code of Ethics and Standards of
Best Business Practices, and abide by NAMB’s formal
ethics grievance review process.
To
qualify to use the Seal, you’ll first need to join
or renew your membership in GAMB. GAMB, as Georgia’s
State Affiliate to NAMB, will then pay your annual
membership dues to NAMB, making you a NAMB member.
Next, visit
www.lendingintegrity.org or go to
www.namb.org
and click on the Lending Integrity Seal displayed on
the home page and find out more about the Seal and
see which requirements apply to you. The
requirements are slightly different for new vs.
renewing members, as well as for mortgage brokers
vs. loan originators. If you hold a valid mortgage
broker license in the state of Georgia, you’ll
realize that you have already complied with some of
the Seal requirements, such as the national
background check and 6 hours of annual industry
education.
Simply follow the program application instructions
and turn in your required documents to GAMB. You can
apply for the seal when joining or renewing your
membership with GAMB, or you can apply for the Seal
after you have renewed or joined. Best of all, there
is no additional cost to apply for or use the Seal.
Upon receiving your Seal application materials, GAMB
will check your qualifications and will then forward
your name and contact information to NAMB. Within
weeks you will hear back from NAMB with instructions
for logging on to the Lending Integrity web site to
download the Lending Integrity Seal and other
materials that will help you promote your
achievement to the public, including: A resizable
Lending Integrity Seal; Business Card Template;
Lending Integrity Pledge Poster; Letter to Consumers
and Prospects; Press Release Template; Generic
Display Ads for Consumers; 30 and 60 Second Radio
Spots with 15 Second Tags; and, a Lending Integrity
Informational Video.
If
you are ready to let consumers know that you are a
hardworking, committed professional who has gone the
extra mile to meet the highest standards and most
stringent code of ethics in the industry, renew or
join GAMB today and start working to obtain the NAMB
Lending Integrity Seal of Approval. It is one of the
most valuable membership benefits we have to offer.
